Friðrik Örn Sigþórsson, who is in the book and visiting from Stykkishólmur, Iceland, and Bruce McMillan, author and photo-illustrator of the book from Shapleigh, present their book, Going Fishing, to the audience of more than fifty people. "Don't forget your hat!" Friðrik holds up the actual hat he wore in the book, a húfa, knit for him by his late grandmother.

Dear Bruce,

Thank you for treating us to an afternoon of fishing, reading and fun. It was perfect! You're such a master at drawing in the children and making things interesting. I'm so glad we were able to meet Friðrik and his family. Being part of their U.S. experience was special. Watching Birta whip the little moose around with her pink boa was a hoot! Thank you for being so generous with your time and talent.

Bless,

Sheila Dube

We finish off the afternoon with a visit to the Shapleigh Town Hall where Erla Friðriksdóttir, mother and mayor of Stykkishólmur, Iceland, met with Ruth Ham of the Board of Selectmen, to discuss the similarities and differences in governing their small towns.

Gifts and town mementos were exchanged.
