The Phippsburg Clippers
This was the first time I shared Going Fishing with an audience.

I showed the students the actual hat, the Icelandic Húfa, that was worn in the book. This was made possible through the courtesy of young Friðrik, whose parents mailed it from Iceland.

Then I had a volunteer help me prompt the audience. When I read the story and pointed to my volunteer, she held the Húfa up high and the audience would say together, "Don't forget your hat."

We didn't forget the hat.
Mrs. Chester's Class Book from our Workshop

We played with their art to develop an idea into a sequence with
a beginning, a middle, and an end, to get a story outlined
that they could then fully develop as they
wrote the words.
Can you "see" a story here? We had a "ball".

Thanks everyone.
It was a great day.
I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed it.
