After picking up a mini-portable grill at Óli's cousin's home, of course we had to stop and have tea with the husband and wife doctors, Haukur og Þóra. This was the last of three family members Óli had borrowed all of the camping gear from. Then it was off to buy some groceries for the weekend at bargain Bonus of course. We drove to the east through the warm cloudless evening sunlight and at Hveragerði stopped by the roadside viewing stop and looked down at a most unusual sight for Iceland - a fog bank covering the south coast.

Leaving the sun behind, we drove down through Hveragerði and into the fog. It was quite beautiful. A little over an hour out of Reykjavík, as we headed inland up route 30 and then 32, the sunset broke through the fog. It was spectacular.

It was around 10:00 p.m. We made our way to Þjórsárdalur. We drove down by the river, with not a soul in sight, and in the twilight set up camp by the river. There was still enough light to snap some photos, and it would be fun to see this place in full daylight the next morning for even a few more.

Once we had the tent up, Óli set up the mini-grill and fired up the charcoal with a little huffing and puffing. I took out the frozen lamb that was by now starting to defrost and using the river, defrosted it. In the 11:00 p.m. twilight we feasted on grilled spiced lamb, roasted potatoes, roasted red peppers, and a Coke for Bruce and pilsner for Óli. Dessert was Earl Grey tea and some orange chocolate cakes.
